Privacy Policy

StudyWith is a multiplayer study app. This page describes exactly what we store, why we store it, and how you get rid of it. It is written to be read, not to be skimmed past.
1. What we collect
When you sign in with Google
Signing in asks Google for three things and nothing else:
- An account identifier — the
subclaim. This is an opaque number that Google issues for our app. It is not your name, not your email, and it never changes. It is what we use to recognise you. - Your email address. Stored so we can look your account up if you write to us. It is explicitly not used to identify you.
- Your display name. Used as the starting name on your avatar. You can change it in the app.
We request the scopes openid, email, and
profile. We do not request access to Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Contacts,
or anything else. We cannot read your mail.
While you play
- Your profile — display name, chosen gender, and the date the account was created.
- Your progress — which items you own, which ones you have equipped, your coin balance, and your purchase and coin history.
- Your study sessions — when a focus session started and finished, and how long it ran.
- Your rooms — which room you joined and when you were in it.
- A session token — a random string kept on your device so you stay signed in. It is not your Google password, and we never see your Google password.
What we do not collect
- No advertising identifiers, and no advertising SDK.
- No location data.
- No access to your camera, microphone, photos, or contacts.
- No contents of your Google account beyond the three items listed above.
2. How we use it
- To sign you in and keep you signed in.
- To show your avatar, your outfit, and your coins to you — and your display name and avatar to other people in the same study room.
- To run the study timer and award coins when a session completes.
- To answer you when you contact us.
That is the whole list. We do not profile you, we do not build advertising audiences, and we do not use your data to train machine-learning models.
3. What other people can see
StudyWith is multiplayer, so some things are visible to the people studying in the same room as you: your display name, your avatar and outfit, and whether you are currently in a focus session. Nothing else. Your email address is never shown to another user.
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. It goes to two places only:
- Google — as the sign-in provider, for the purpose of authenticating you. Google's handling of your data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
- Our hosting provider — the server that runs StudyWith stores the data described above on our behalf.
We will also disclose data if we are legally required to, and we will tell you if that happens unless we are barred from doing so.
5. Google user data — Limited Use
StudyWith's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
In plain terms: the Google account data we receive is used only to sign you in and to label your avatar. It is not used for advertising, it is not sold, it is not used to determine creditworthiness or for lending, and it is not read by humans except when you ask us to help you with your account or when we are legally required to.
6. How long we keep it
Your data stays for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, we mark it for deletion immediately and erase it permanently 30 days later — the gap exists so that an accidental deletion can be undone. After those 30 days the profile, progress, study history, and Google account link are all removed from the database. Nothing is kept.
7. Deleting your account and your data
You can delete your account from inside the app. You can also ask us to delete it, or ask us what we hold about you, by writing to support@studywithapp.com from the email address linked to your account. We will respond within 30 days.
8. Security
Traffic between the app and our server is encrypted with HTTPS. Sign-in is verified against Google's published keys, so a forged sign-in is rejected. Account data is reachable only by the server process. No system is perfect, and we will not pretend otherwise — if a breach ever affects your data, we will tell you.
9. Children
StudyWith is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, write to us and we will remove it.
10. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that affects you, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, tell you in the app before the change takes effect.
